An implant is a small titanium post placed into the jawbone, where it fuses with the bone and acts as an artificial root. A crown, bridge or denture is then attached on top, so the replacement tooth is fixed, stable and cleaned like a natural tooth.

What happens during dental implant treatment
1. Implant consultation
We examine your mouth, take scans and X-rays and assess the bone available. You will leave with a written plan setting out your options and costs.
2. Implant placement
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic in a single appointment. Most patients are surprised by how comfortable the procedure is and return to normal activities the next day.
3. Healing and integration
Over the following weeks the implant fuses with the jawbone. A temporary tooth can usually be worn during this period so you are never left with a visible gap.
4. Fitting your new tooth
Once healing is complete, we fit the final crown, bridge or denture, matched to the shade and shape of your natural teeth.
Caring for your dental implants
Implants are cleaned much like natural teeth: brushing twice a day, cleaning between the teeth and keeping up regular hygiene appointments. Well maintained implants can last for decades.
